Pacemakers Dragway Park (PDP) is sanctioned by the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and is part of the North Central Division 3. Our safety rules follow their guidelines set forth in the 2018 NHRA rule book. Available online to NHRA Members, they are also available for purchase at the track and online from NHRA

All participant/crew member and or spectators may be required to show proof of name upon signing insurance waiver. Any person attempting to falsify this process will be permanently suspended from all PDP events. Any persons entering the pit area are required to purchase a pit pass for $10 and sign the insurance waiver. (Special events may be priced accordingly)

Arm Bands:

All participants / crew members, employees and or spectators on the pit lane will be required to wear a PDP arm band at all times. This is our only way to verify that you have in fact signed the insurance waiver. This is our only means of accountability. Our staff will put the arm band on you or will have to observe you put it on. This also applies to those with VIP or season passes. Spectators on the spectator side of the track on Friday nights will have a ticket or hand stamp.

Entry Cards:

Each and every time you enter our facility to participate in any event, you will be provided an entry/tech card.
This card must be completed and taken up to the mailbox at the tower. If we do not receive your entry/tech card, then you will not be eligible to race. It is your responsibility to make certain that your entry/tech card is turned in. This should be done before making any time trials, but must be done before first round.

Tech Inspections:
Safety First: In 2018, we will perform tech inspections for all regular participants. All participants will be required to have a valid inspection sticker on their vehicle. Tech Inspector will be around to inspect everyone’s vehicle, if he does not see you, make certain that you contact him for your inspection and decal! This is the participant’s responsibility to have your vehicle inspected! Any changes / alternations to your vehicle require the participant to notify the PDP Technical Department! We also can perform Extended Technical Inspections (ETI) that are valid for 1 year. We will randomly select individuals for inspection on a weekly basis. Your entry card IS NOT a Tech Inspection, until signed by a track tech inspector.

Time Trials:

PDP will make every effort to provide two time trials prior to eliminations. This does not however guaranteed a competitor two runs. The first thirty minutes of Time trials will be open time trials. At that point we will start class called time trials to staging lanes. If you miss your time trial session, you

miss the run. In time trials lanes 2-4-6 will be for time trials in the left lane 3-5-7 are time trials on the right lane.

Staging Lane Procedure:

As cars enter the staging lanes, you will be directed to a lane by a track official. This is not a suggested lane. Please remember there will be no lane jumping. If you are caught jumping lanes you can be disqualified for the event. When eliminations begin, the dial in dash winner will be awarded the bye run. (if an even number of cars. That racer will carry the bye run into the next round if not used. Until they either use it or lose it) If the dash winner is in another class we will draw a card (1-7) to pick a lane, then the bye run. Bye runs will be determined by reaction times until laddered if dash winner has USED the bye run. We will pull cars FRONT TO BACK in each lane (up to ten pair) the first car will go to the far lane (spectator side), the second car will go to the closest (pit side)

Taillight; For all NHRA Sportsman and E. T. racers, a functional light must be visible from the rear of the car. This eliminates all references to night racing only, meaning a light must be functional at all times.

Throttle stops are not legal in Pro, Sportsman, High school, or Trophy per Summit Racing Series Finals Rules; "Throttle must be manually operated by drivers foot. Electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics or any other device may in no way affect the throttle operation. Dead stop under carburetor or gas pedal is permitted. Throttles timers, counters prohibited." Also for all categories Ignition stutter boxes prohibited. Starting line and or "high side" rev limiters permitted. Two steps, rev limiters or any other rpm limiting devices, legal unto themselves but altered or installed so as to function as a down-track rpm controller, prohibited.

All safety equipment, competition license, and chassis certification required for your ET is mandatory.

Oil-retention Device; are recommended but not required. Unless running a super series class or E.T. class requiring one. (We highly recommend a J&J Performance Diaper as they are a track sponsor and offer contingency for those that win or runner up and use a J&J Diaper)

Clothing:

It is the responsibility of all racers to be within compliance with NHRA rules pertaining to clothes. No shirts will be allowed without sleeves, every class is required to have long pants on, no shorts. Helmets are required for any vehicle that runs faster than 8.59 ET along with all Motorcycles and Jr. Dragster Classes. For any pit vehicle races Helmets, long pants and Jackets are required. NO NYLON CLOTHING OF ANY KIND WILL BE ALLOWED, regardless of class or ET. All safety equipment and clothing required for your ET is mandatory.

Warm Ups:
Any time any racer in any class wishes to start their vehicle, a competent driver (licensed) must be seated in the vehicle behind the steering wheel. No work may be performed on any race vehicle supported only by a jack. Additional safety devices such as jack stands are mandatory. Anyone testing their trans-brake or stalling their converter in the staging lanes will be disqualified for the event.

Dial In’s:
Please make certain that your dial in is legible on both side windows, or sides of your race vehicle. All Dial In's are to be on the vehicle prior to crossing the head of staging. Once you have been paired with another participant and prior to crossing the yellow line at the head of staging, you must have your dial in on. Dial in changes may be allowed after a 20 minute or more delay in running your pair. Your Dial In will be posted upon the scoreboards when you are signaled to advance to the starting line, make certain that your dial in, is correct! We make every effort to check and re-check each and every dial in, however if you stage your car and the dial in, is wrong, then you have indicated that you are ready to race and that you have accepted that dial in. If you are using a Cross Over Box and your opponent has staged and their dial in, is posted incorrectly, you will either need to change your cross over or zero out your box prior to staging your car, remember that once one car has staged, PDP uses the TSI Auto Start System, you will need to make your adjustments quickly as the starting system only allows so much time! There will be no re-runs for incorrect dial ins.

Courtesy Staging is encouraged. And is mandatory in some classes.

TSI Timing System:

PDP uses a TSI Timing System. The AutoStart feature is used on every class with the exception of Street, High School and Junior Dragster Minor Classes. Autostart is activated when both participant have turned on the first pre-stage bulb and at one Staged light. At this point, the TSI Timing System takes over and allows 10 seconds before the other opponent must stage their car or they will be “timed out” and receive the red light. When both stage lights are activated, we have three random settings of when the tree will actually be started.

Cross –Talk is activated in the Super Pro Class at all times.

Deep Staging:

PDP permits racers who have a desire to deep stage provided you follow these guidelines. The word deep must be on both sides of your race vehicle at least 2" tall. Also you must have the same wording on the front windshield. Any competitor wishing to deep stage must stage their vehicle first! It will not be the starter’s responsibility to wait for vehicles to deep stage. Get your vehicle staged if you want to deep stage!

Personnel Allowed on Track:

All racers, spectators and pit crew personnel are to remain behind the fenced areas and are not allowed upon the race track area! With certain cars and racers, sometimes they need to have one of their pit crew assist with positioning their vehicle in the water box, or starting line properly, we will allow only 1 pit crew person to perform such a task! Once that person has positioned the racer If a pit crew person interferes with any function or causes any distraction with PDP personnel being able to perform their job effectively, then that racer will be automatically disqualified. If you are on the track you must be wearing shoes, no sandals/flip-flops or open toe shoes allowed.

All Motor sports are extremely dangerous! PDP makes every attempt and effort to make our facility safe and our personnel are trained to handle their functions in a safe and consistent manner. If anyone has a need to review any issue, then that person needs to direct those enquiries to track management.

In 2018, No person will be allowed to stand in front of the tower or within the fenced area by the Tower! Again, our insurance carriers do not allow anyone other than PDP employees from entering restricted areas! If this practice is not discontinued, our carriers will increase insurance premiums, in turn entry fees will increase as well! Please Help Us Keep Cost under Control!

If you wish to watch the races, move towards the bleachers and enjoy the show from there!

NO SLIDING OF TIRES AT THE FINISH LINE IF YOU DO YOU WILL BE WARNED OR Dis-Qualified. This decision is entirely up to track management.

Class Calls:

When your class is called, bring your cars to back of staging where you will be directed to a specific lane. Lane jumping will not be tolerated. Class calls will go out over the PA system and the Geddex Race Alert System. Please make your way to staging quickly after your class is called to avoid holding the other racers up in the lanes. If you are found to be showing up late in the lanes and holding up the class racing on a regular basis you may be disqualified for that event. Again we are trying to keep racers in the event moving so that curfew can be met without running over. So please respond as quickly as possible when your class is called. Any questions please feel free to ask any PDP Staff.

Pit Support Vehicles
NO ONE WITHOUT A VALID STATE DRIVERS LICENSE WILL BE ALLOWED TO OPERATE A PIT VEHICLE OF ANY KIND! Anyone found to be in violation of this rule, will have their pit support vehicle confiscated and returned back to you at the conclusion of the event. All Pit Support Vehicles shall be parked by the PDP Retail Center building and not in the Staging Lanes! The only exception to this rule is for the motorcycle riders which use another push vehicle as a support vehicle and during the Jr. Dragster program. Motorcycle support vehicles still cannot be operated by anyone not licensed!

Speed Limits:

Anytime anyone enters or operates any motorized vehicle upon PDP property, the maximum Speed Limit is 5 MPH! No One is allowed to exceed the 5 MPH limit, if you operate your motorized vehicle in a manner not safe for all participants and spectators, then you will forfeit your opportunity to race at that evenings event! No Refunds will be allowed, you will be allowed to stay and be a spectator, and you will not be allowed to participate. Any of your pit crew that violates our speed rule, will cause you as the participant to be disqualified. No Exceptions!

Re-Entry (buy backs):

A Second chance is available to all participants in most classes, only for the first round losers as time and car count allow we will offer buy backs for those that don't win the second round. (But did win the first round) If you lose first round and elect to re-enter, then you will be in the second chance round of competition. All re- entrees will race 1 round against other re-entrees in their class. If you win the second chance round you will advance into the 3rd round of regular competition.

Rain Out Policies:

All of us realize that at any time, mother nature may elect to prevent us from holding a race event, if that situation does occur then this will help communicate to each of our participants our rain out policy.

In the event of a rain out prior to the completion of 1 full round for each class scheduled on that evening, then every entry will be eligible for a rain check good at any event held during the same calendar year (Except Special Events). If at least 1 full round has been completed and you are still in competition, the posted purse will be split. Pit crew and spectators are not eligible for rain checks after the start of eliminations.

Broke Car Policy:

When someone breaks their vehicle before the first round, we will allow them a rain check which will be good for the full season. If you break your vehicle after competition has started, and/or while you are in competition, then you will not be eligible for any rain checks. If you break during time trials, then a normal test & tune fee will be deducted from your entry to cover the expense of the time trial.

Claiming Prize Money:

When you wish to claim your prize money, you will need to present proper identification. You will also be required to provide us with your social security number for end of year 1099 processing. Make certain that you have completed your entry card, as your address will be pulled from that. Each racer will be required to sign for the money collected. Please do not send someone not prepared with this information, as they will no doubt have to return for that information! Once we have the information, then you may not be required to provide it at later dates. It is the responsibility of the racer to come up to the entry gate and collect their prize moneys. All prize moneys not collected the day of the race are forfeited.

Pit Parking Policy:

Each pit parking spot will be 20ft. wide and extend forward to either the fence or property line and rearward to the return road. No vehicles will be permitted to extend onto the return road. All vehicles and pit equipment must be located to the rear or the right side of your trailer. All generators must be muffled or placed so as not to interfere with your neighbor’s ability to enjoy our racing facility.

No Motor Home/Camper or stacker trailer units will be allowed to park next to the track between the concession stand and the first turn off. The height of these units interferes with the Fire Safety Crews ability to monitor the track

Reserve Parking:

Each year PDP will offer a number of parking spots as reserve parking for a paid entry race vehicle and hauling rig. Pit crew and spectator parking must be inside your pit area. This program allows a participant that desires the same parking area for all ET Events the ability to reserve a pit space each spot has an annual fee of $100, a participant may reserve a parking spot from one of the reserve sections. This offering is on a first come basis, every effort will be made to make certain that you receive the parking spot you have requested.

If you have reserve parking, you must be in your spot prior to the beginning of class called time trials. If you are not in your reserve spot then your spot may be used by anyone wishing to use it. We will work with you if you know you will be late, and you have let us know. Please also let us know if you will not be coming for an event so that someone can use that space. We want this to work for the racer and the track, so your cooperation is needed.

Each Reserve Parking spot will be a 20 ft. wide area extending to either the fence line or the ditch. All reserve parking areas will be identified with a sign reflecting your number. As a reserve parking holder, you are responsible to make certain that you do not infringe on your neighbors area, you are also responsible to keep your area cleaned up! Remember, you are renting this spot for a specified reason. If you’re not racing, you can't park your car there!
